• Deportatn*: 1812, as a result of being convicted in the Essex Assizes for the crime of "Stealing from the Crown" (a Public House in Sheering). He was origonally sentenced to Death but that was later reduce to Life. This sentence attracted the penalty of transportation to Australia. It is highly likely that he was involved in the same crime as William Thurley (# xxx). He was transported on the ship Earl Spencer, on 2 June 1813 and arrived in the colony of New South Wales on 8 October 1813. His earliest movements can be tracked to Windsor, New South Wales. In the 'General Muster of NSW - 1814' he is listed as a convict in a 'Town Gang on Stores, residence 'W' (Windsor, NSW).
